Our Level System
The primary goal of our Salon Level System is to provide a career path of growth and achievement for team members. In return, we’re able to offer several service options for our guests to better meet their needs. Guests may choose the stylist/level that compliments their requests from skill set to expertise, and budget.
It’s all in the Details
All stylists, regardless of prior experience, attend the J. Joseph Salon Apprenticeship Program prior to working hands-on with our guests. JJS certifies the stylists in our Principle-Based Design (hair cutting techniques, hair coloring, and styling) and product knowledge to ensure they can offer the highest level of service and experience.
The cost of our Salon services will vary per stylist level. Based on availability, education, and demand we offer 9 Different levels for you to choose from. We encourage guests to schedule a complimentary consultation to get an exact cost for their service prior to scheduling their salon service with us.
Apprentice
Apprentice team members are recent graduates currently undergoing our 6-12 month Apprenticeship Program.
During this period, they are assisting Certified J. Joseph Salon Educators in order to advance their skills, improve efficiency and learn our specific J. Joseph Salon procedures, while servicing their own guests (models) a few hours per week. They are concentrating on hair services as well as hair extensions, and becoming “Keratin” and “The Best” Treatment certified must undergo the same training process.
Foundation Stylist
Foundation team members are stylists who have completed their initial J. Joseph Salon Training under our certified salon educators.
A Foundation Stylist is not someone who is a recently licensed cosmetologist, but rather someone who is new to our salons. After completing our J. Joseph Salon Apprenticeship Program, our hair stylists are graduated to Foundation Service Providers. These stylists have the ability to offer beautiful and budget-friendly services for their guests.
Junior Stylist
Junior team members are developing their artistry in all Principle Based Design haircuts and color techniques, and have completed at least one year at the New Talent Level.
Once our stylists build up a steady clientele while continuing to improve their technicality and further their education, they are able to move up to the next level. Stylists at this level typically have been in our salons for 1- 2 years.
Advanced Stylist
Advanced Stylists have developed their design and coloring skills, and are working to produce outcomes out of artistry.
Stylists at this level have gone through additional training and certifications in most Principles. These stylists have been with J. Joseph Salons for 2-3 years and are close to mastering all the J. Joseph Salon educational classes.
Senior Stylist
Senior Stylists have completed at least 250 hours of continuing education through in-salon training, and have been certified in all of J. Joseph Salon’s Principle-Based Training.
They have worked closely with the Artistic Director to advance their career and assist with in-salon education. At senior level, stylists have been with JJS for 3- 4 years and they’re being prepared to mentor and educate New Talents through the J. Joseph Salon Educators Program.
Master Stylist
Master Stylists and above are considered by J Joseph Salons, Advanced Artists. These team members have been part of our salon family for 4-5 years.
Stylists at this level are certified as specialists in all three principles: cut, color, and styling. They have completed the J. Joseph Salon Educators Program, and help to train/mentor new team members.
Specialist
These stylists typically hold management positions within our salons and help educators develop and further our education program.
Specialist team members have mastery and specialization in an area within our three principles, making services rendered from them a special experience for our guests. The mastery of their specialization is taught throughout our salon company so that other levels can acquire the skills and knowledge they hold. This level is responsible for certifying our specialists and also organizing all continuing education for this skill set. Specialists have been with J. Joseph Salons for at least 6-7 years.
Elite
The promotion to Elite Level is reserved for the most experienced and highly sought-after stylists in our salons. This elite group is exclusive and by appointment only.
They are well-known for their work and have traveled the world styling for major fashion houses and beyond. Through rigorous work and determination, they’ve developed a keen artistry and technicality for hairstyling, and possess a remarkable reputation in the industry. This elite group of stylists have become key individuals in the success of our salons over their 10+ career years at JJS, becoming your Salon Directors and also part owners in our company.
Artistic Director
Artistic Directors at this level are visionary leaders who shape the creative direction of the salon. They have a profound impact on the industry and drive the salon's growth, innovation, and artistic excellence.
Artistic Directors are responsible for setting the highest artistic standards within the salon. They curate the salon's creative vision, mentor and coach Master Stylists, and lead the development of new techniques and approaches. They collaborate with industry leaders, participate in major events, and continuously elevate the salon's reputation to international recognition.
Visionary Director
The Visionary Director level represents the pinnacle of accomplishment within our salon. These individuals are revered for their extraordinary contributions to the industry and their role in defining the future of hairstyling and our salon company.
Visionary Directors drive innovation, set global trends, and inspire the entire salon team. They shape the salon's philosophy, artistic direction, and business strategy. With unrivaled expertise and an unwavering commitment to excellence, they lead the industry forward, leaving an indelible mark on the world of beauty.
