How can I determine what hair styles will work on me?
It may sound a bit vain, but we ladies do spend quite a bit of time obsessing over our hair. What color should it be and what length? Should I have layers? Bangs? A mohawk? So many options! Luckily, there are a few tips and tricks to help us when we become overwhelmed by all the possibilities… and get this – it all boils down to your face shape. Once you have identified the shape of your face, you can then select hairstyles that flatter and enhance your facial features.
How can I make my hair color look good longer?
There are a number of things that you can do after you leave the salon to keep your hair color looking better, longer.
- Use the products recommended by your stylist to work with the specific line of color used to color your hair.
- Let your stylists perform the proper pre-treatment on your hair prior to color application. This will provide longer lasting color results, as well as providing your colorist with a clean, healthy palate to create a masterpiece.
- Use cooler water when washing your hair.
- Swimming in chlorinated water will fade hair color quickly. Washing your hair out with distilled water after a swim will help.
- Try avoiding exposure to direct sunlight for long periods of time. Many of the products that your stylist recommends for your hair color will be formulated with elements to help protect your colored hair from the sun. Also using Redkens sun care line will treat and protect your hair from the harsh Florida sun.
How often should I get a haircut?
The length of your hair, hair texture, exposure to sun, water, heated appliances, styling products, elastic bands, and chemicals, should all be taken into consideration when determining how often to get your hair cut. The average head of hair grows about one-half inch every month, and on average, hair should be trimmed or the ends should be dusted every 6-8 weeks. On shorter, more polished looks, it may require freshening up as often as every 4 weeks.
Why do people say trimming your hair helps it to grow faster?
Trimming does not necessarily make hair grow faster, but it does keep the hair intact and maintains length. Even if you are letting your hair grow long, keeping the ends free from damage and splitting is essential for optimal growth. When split ends occur, the hair breaks and sheds – essentially cutting itself. This can all be avoided by keeping your ends fresh and damage-free with consistent trims. Hair that is already long but has not been maintained may experience frizzy, dull, unmanageable conditions. If damage has been done from environmental conditions, improper styling routines and other various forms of abuse, trimming your hair on a regular basis and the proper hair care regimen will help to restore healthy, beautiful hair. You should not only have your hair trimmed to maintain healthy ends, but also to cut down on menacing tangles, frizzy ends and to keep your hair looking gorgeous. The result will be a smoother, more polished-looking style, with very little loss of length and change in style.
Is it bad to wash my hair everyday?
Unless you have really oily hair, you should give hair and scalp a rest for at least a day between shampoos. For those of you with oily hair who don’t want to wash every day, consider skipping the shampoo every other day, and simply wetting hair thoroughly to rinse away oil and residue, following up by conditioning ends lightly. Since shampooing hair too often can strip the hair of essential oils and cause your color to fade, you may want to try using a professional dry shampoo at the roots and hairline in between shampoos.
Is the hair your salon uses human hair or synthetic?
